As part of QBANK’s community proud initiative, the Everyday Heroes Awards are a calendar highlight for our bank and for many of our members. The awards are an opportunity to honour Queenslanders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and make Queensland a better and safer place to live.
QBANK CEO Mike Currie said it’s often the most humble people who are most deserving of recognition.
“It’s the police officer who has risked their life to protect a mother and child from domestic violence, the SES workers saving people from deadly floodwaters, the firefighters bike riding across the country to raise funds for burns victims and the young lifeguard that saved a child from drowning.
“We are also recognising young Queenslanders aged between 12 and 17 who have made an admirable contribution to those around them.
“The Awards allow Queenslanders to put the spotlight on the selfless individuals who help make our state great. If the community doesn’t speak up and nominate their local heroes, then who will?”
The good news is, anyone can honour a hero and nominations are now open until September 1, 2017.
There are six awards categories:
Five category winners will each receive $1,000 cash deposited into a QBANK account and $1,000 donated to their charity of choice. The Young Everyday Heroes Award winner will receive a $500 bursary towards their training and development.
You can nominate any local, state or federal government employees or volunteers residing in Queensland, including police officers, firefighters, ambulance paramedics, nurses and health workers, emergency service workers and correctional service officers.
We look forward to this year’s awards being bigger and better than ever before, giving us a chance to honour those people in the community who truly deserve it.
